There are many certification options to choose from. However, not everyone is eligible for all of them. The prerequisites for a certification determine eligibility.
Educational attainment and experience in project management are two factors that can impact your eligibility.
These certifications are highly recommended for both beginners and professionals at all levels.
Entry-Level Certifications
1) Certified Associate in Project Management, (CAPM).
The PMI administers the Certified Associate in Project Management certification. This certification is a great stepping stone for remote project managers who don’t have a college degree. Only one of these requirements is required:
High school diploma, associate’s degree, or equivalent
23 hours of project manager education or 1,500 hours project management experience

The certification exam takes three hours and requires you to answer 150 questions. PMI members pay $225. Non-members must pay $300.

A CAPM certification means you have a solid understanding of project management and can demonstrate the ability to effectively manage projects.
To maintain your certification, you must earn 15 Professional Development Units (PDUs), every three years. There are two types of PDUs: Education and Giving back to the profession.
Pay attention to the following minimum and maximal requirements for PDUs.
A minimum of 9 Education PDUs are required. This can be earned by attending professional seminars, webinars or classes. You might also consider self-directed learning.
A maximum of 6 Giving back PDUs can be earned: This can be earned by volunteering, mentoring or working with professional organizations.

2) Agile Scrum Master
Exin’s Agile Scrum Master certification can help project managers who are interested in learning how to manage complex projects using agile methodologies. It is designed to help individuals become scrum masters who can coach and facilitate cross-future collaboration.
